Abstract
This study examined potential the role of women of women organisations in promoting the clean energy for household cooking. The descriptive analysis of trends and patterns of household energy choice clearly show that the proportion of households using non-clean energy is still very high due to poverty, illiteracy, large family size and culture of conservative. This dependence on non-clean energy negatively affects both people and the environment. There is therefore need for women organisations to adopt the strategies identified in this study in promoting access to modern fuels for cooking.
