Abstract

A globally well-known phrase "A person who speaks two languages is worth two people" simply shows the importance of learning / teaching a foreign language. In this context, knowledge of a foreign language is one of the most important educational objectives for each society. For, a language that creates links between cultures with an international bridge function, improves the social skills and overall communication of an individual and increases the number of people with whom one is able to communicate. Nowadays, foreign languages are systematically learned and taught in schools or private language classes. In the 1950s, the SGAV (Structural-Global Audio-Visual) method appeared to consider language as a communication tool and its coherence was built around the joint use of image and sound. It was the first time that sound and visual material had been used in teaching / learning French with this methodology. From the 1970s, as a reaction against the SGAV methodology, a new methodology had occurred. It was the communicative approach. This methodology, by analyzing language needs before developing a French lesson, aims to teach using communication situations using French codes.
