Abstract
Indian traditional system has neglected the women, and older women are most likely to have the affected status in the family. On this track of highlighting the status of elderly women within the family, the changes in their role and enrolment in the household decision making have taken into account. The BKPAI data (2011) utilized for this study, which is collected from seven different states of India, as those states had a higher percentage of the elderly population than the national average. For analysis of the decision-making process, six major household decisions considered, so that the role of older person in these decisions will reflect status within the household.
