Abstract
Madinatun Nuhas or Tamirapattanam is the First Islamic Novel written in Tamil language in India with Islamic-Arwi or Arabu –Tamil script in 1858 and Dravidian-Tamil script as well. The Arabu -Tamil represents the Tamil language using Arabic script. This research article makes the thorough study of Madinatun Nuhas or Tamirappattanam, its style, contents and its author Imam Al Aroos. This article analyses the earlier novels written in India with special reference to Madinatun Nuhas or Tamirappattanam as the first Islamic novel. This article attempts to set a place for the Islamic novel and literature and traces the first attempts of first Islamic Novel of India. The Islamic literature is not a cutting edge area but it has its roots in the history of Islam.
