Abstract
India is an agricultural country and one third of the population depends on the agricultural sector directly or indirectly. Agriculture is the mainstay of the Indian economy from time immemorial. Indian agriculture Contribution to the National gross domestic product (GDP) is about 25 percent. Women are the backbone of the development of rural and National economies. They Comprise 43% of the World agricultural labour force which rises to 70% in some Countries. Female work participation in agriculture depends on the intensity and relative growth of agriculture. This paper seeks to highlight the socio-economic conditions, problems and the expectations of women workers in Kanyakumari District.
