Abstract

Aerosol Chemistry is of great concern over the current period owing to their manifold contribution in various scientific disciplines akin to biogeochemistry, physics, earth sciences, meteorology, public health etc. Though the airborne aerosol particle ranges from nanometer to micrometer size, they are active in the participation of hydrological cycles, the circulation pattern of the atmosphere, the energy balance of the Earth, variation and distribution pattern of the reactive trace gases including Green House Gases (GHGs), production of atmospheric cooling volatile gas, the Dimethyl Sulphide (DMS) and thereon.  Eventually ends to the spreading of various diseases causing pathogens and affecting the public health and also make control over changing the climate sketch. Due to the spatio-temporal difference and variations in geographical pattern throughout the globe, the analytical techniques in network monitoring and quantifying for Air Quality (AQ) has become a tedious and inefficient approach. Therefore, new sophisticated techniques and technologies are developed in the new scientific era for Air Quality (AQ) monitoring, estimating and finally their effective assessment in each country. Hence, worldwide both ground and satellite monitoring approach have come up in a more systematic manner.  This review articles attempts to represent a brief outline on the characteristic properties of the aerosol constituents, their varying sizes, health impacts and  monitoring strategies.
