Abstract
State Government Finances is one of the areas in Macroeconomic Management of Finances in general and public finance in particular. Political philosophy of the Government is always reflected through its budgets. The study provides a self-contained overview of present problem of State finance in the state of Goa during the pre-statehood period (1980-1986) and post-statehood period(1987-2016). It begins with the overview of State finances in Goa, and consider various developments that have shaped the state’s current fiscal situation. The Present paper analyses the overall budgetary position of state finances in Goa during the period of the study. It highlights the overall budgetary position of the Goa state and also analyse the trends of Tax and Non- tax revenue of Goa state finances.
