Abstract

Finance is a prime constituent of an economy for its overall development. Even after so many years of independence, a large section of Indian population does not have access to basic financial services. Financial inclusion is coming into view as a new pattern of economic growth that plays a vital role in removing poverty from the country. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is one of the scheme under financial inclusion initiative of Government of India. The scheme aims to ensure universal access to banking facilities with at least one basic banking account for every household, financial literacy, access to credit, insurance and pension. The main purpose of this study is to analyse the progress of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) scheme in covering all households in the country with banking facilities. The study is purely based on secondary data sources. In order to make analysis and find out findings of the literature collected, various tools have been incorporated.
