Abstract

The concept of the ‘green economy’ is complex and the international community has yet to come to a political consensus on its meaning, its use, the ensuing policy implications or what it constitutes. The distinctions between ‘green economy’, ‘green growth’, ‘global green new deal’ or ‘green recovery’ are somewhat blurred, as is the distinction between ‘qualitative growth’ and ‘sustainable economy’. This paper deals with role of green economy in poverty eradication. It outlines the identification of poor in green economics and methods of application of green economy towards upliftment of poor and implications of green economy towards development of women. This paper concludes with some policy measures towards promotion of green economy in poverty eradication.
