Abstract

Tour and tourism is everyone’s cup of tea. People are traveling irrespective of their age, gender and socio economic lifestyle. The only difference is the places they choose to visit will be based on their viability. It is the job of tourism industry to spot such places of beauty and interest and bring people and places physically closer to one another by providing every facility and comfort. The experience of tourism in India is mostly of a domestic nature as the country itself has a wide variety of cultural and historical heritage. This paper examines the tourism experience of the households in the international, national and state context. The scope of the study is limited to the households of Malappuram District of Kerala covering both urban and rural regimes.
