Abstract

The Rape of the lock is a mock-epic written by the eighteenth century English Poet Alexander Pope.  The poem is satirical take on eighteenth century “Augustan England” and the lives of the wealthy families. The mock epic is regarded as one of the finest and wittiest narrations of a trivial incident between two aristocratic families. The poem is considered the best in the English language in the genre of mock-epic poems and theme of the poem has universal and timeless appeal.
