Abstract
This study describes the pilot testing process and the actual improvements made to the study design and the research process before commencing the main and descriptive research study on motivation, growth, performance and problems of women entrepreneurs in Punjab. A pilot test was conducted to examine the feasibility of the survey questionnaire and data collection processes and also to assess the validity of the final study. A thorough study of various research articles on the problems, growth, motivation and performance of women entrepreneurs helped in identifying,analysing and organizing various factors that influenced women entrepreneurs to start the enterprise of their own. This paperalso throws light on the benefits of conducting pilot study to the researchers involved in undertaking qualitative research (particularly to the novice researchers), theexperiences gainedand the lessons learned during the pilot study.
