Abstract

A well-established regime for IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) precedes what can be termed as a process leading to a stable and constant economic growth in any country. The protection conferred by the Intellectual Property Rights is not limited to the protection of the innovation and creative attributes of the competitors of any intellectual right owner. The same right also extends its protection to the consumers of the goods and services which are being provided by the owner of the IP right. The stable IPR regime talked of before is a step which further motivates an enhanced interest and consequentially increased investment in the research and development prevalent in any economy. This in turn helps to bring about an improvement in the quality of life of the people of any country. Consumer protection is equally intricate to a stable regime for intellectual property rights in India, and a harmonious incorporation of both these aspects into the IPR legislations in the country is an essential precondition for a stable and overall development of the society, as a whole.
