Abstract

Internet addiction (IA) is recognised as a cause of public health concern worldwide (Aboujaoude et all; 2006). In addition Transtheoretical model (TM) for Readiness to change in behaviour proposed by Prochaska and Di. Clemente (1992), has been extensively used in the field of counselling to modify addictive behaviour. In this context, the present study was carried out to design the awareness and sensitisation programme (ASP) based on TM and extended by analysing the significance of this programme on IA and its allied competence and health risk (Youth-Self Report),  for internet addict adolescents (N=180).ASP was designed under four successive stages namely Orientation, Pre-contemplation, Contemplation and Preparation.
