Abstract

Entrepreneurship is the acquired skills, abilities or qualities of an individual who launch an enterprise. An entrepreneur is an individual, who incubate new ideas, thoughts and believes to create new demands in the market through innovative initiation. The Rural entrepreneurship is a type of entrepreneurship which emerges in the rural areas where the main source of income of the people is agriculture; the majority of the rural people are depended on the agriculture sector. To reduce the dependency of the rural people on agriculture a new avenue of employment is created. This new avenue of employment is the setting up of the MSME in rural areas. In simple words, rural entrepreneurship can be defined as entrepreneurship that emerges at village level which can take place in a variety of fields of endeavour such as business, industry, agriculture. Entrepreneurship Development (ED) refers to the process of enhancing entrepreneurial abilities, skills and knowledge through systematic and structured training and motivational programmes.The study highlights the need to have a specific and strategic approach to develop entrepreneurshipthrough entrepreneurship development programme. The creation of entrepreneurs is a group effort initiated by the EDOs, Trainers or Motivators, Sponsors of EDPs and the Government Policies and Programmes.
