Abstract

We studied the linear stability of a fluid layer which flows on a tilted surface of a solid in the gravitational field and insoluble surfactant is added at GL interface. Here, we found three modes i.e. gas-liquid (GL), Maranagoni and Liquid-Solid (LS). Gas-liquid interfacial mode remains stable for stokes flow but becomes unstable for higher value of Reynolds number (or at higher inertial force). Marangoni mode remains stable for all the value of Re in absence of flexible (or soft solid) layer but becomes unstable when rigid surface is coated by a soft solid layer. On the other hand, LS interfacial mode remains stable in low wavenumber range but it turns into unstable in shortwave limit for any value of Re.
