Abstract

Mueller polarimetric measurements offers numerous advantages compare tomeasurements done with unpolarized light. As it have complete polarimetric response of a sample therefore found the various applications in many fields. Since Mueller matrix is having  sixteen elements (4 ×4 matrix) therefore required at least sixteen different measurements involving both circular and linear polarized light. To generate the both linear and circular polarization different optical components like quarter waveplates, half waveplates, other retarder like PEM, liquid crystal, and polarizers have been used. Based on that different techniques were proposed for measuring the full Mueller matrix. In this article we will review few of the important techniques used to measure the Mueller matrix that has been exploited for tissue diagnosis and imaging.
