Abstract

With the advancement of materials, the conventional way of machining the materials are now being replaced with the non-contact advanced machining processes. In widespread, advanced machining processes are classified primarily based upon the energy used for machining the materials like mechanical, thermal, chemical, and electrochemical. Out of various non-contact and thermal-based advanced machining processes, the laser cutting is maximumly used in worldwide industries. This review paper aims to provide a state of the artwork inside the area of laser cutting development. This paper presents the work done so far by various researchers in the area of laser cutting of various ferrous and nonferrous materials and corresponding process parameters such as power, cutting speed, assisted gas pressure, focal location, etc on the response parameters like surface roughness, kerf width, etc.
