Abstract

In-situ crop residue management is a challenge to the intensive agricultural systems which produce more food for the need of growing populations. More production of crops also produce large amount of residues, making difficult for the farmer to prepare land in a short time for the next crop. In order to clear the field the farmers opted for burning the residue, which is cheap, easy, economical and lest time consumed. Burning crop residue leads to air pollution, global climate change, soil health deterioration and increase soil erosion. Several greenhouse gases (GHGs) along with carbonaceous aerosols and particulate matter (PM)are the major source of air pollution also for the present global climate change. Global concern for certain diseasescause by air pollution due to burning of agricultural crop residue along with the fossil fuels is increasing which makes high immature mortality rate.
