Abstract

The present study examines the relationship between workplace incivility, work engagement and coping behaviour. Data was collected from a sample of 250 teachers working in different universities and colleges as regular or contractual employee. Results suggest that coping behaviour is significantly related to work engagement acts as mediator between workplace incivility and work engagement. Working with a sample of 250 teachers from North India, structural equation modeling is employed to test the hypothesis. The analysis highlights the fact that coping behaviour positively affects the work engagement and workplace incivility and work engagement helps in addressing and diminishing the incivility among employees. The theoretical and practical implications of this study are discussed, together with its limitations and future research directions.
