Abstract

The four different pathovar of antracnose of chilli caused by Colletotrichum capsici causing were isolated from different places of chilli growing areas namely KC1, KC2, KC3 and KC4. Fungal isolates from distinctive chilli fields causing typical die back symptoms were identified as belonging to the C.capsici. Pathogenicity test validated that four isolates were causal agents of chilli anthracnose disease and KC4 was distinguished highly pathogenic to chilli fruits. To know the virulence isolates fruits were inoculated and results suggested maximum fruit rot intensity were observed in isolate KC4 and found to be more aggressive with disease intensity of (60.15%), having brown colour colony on PDA and also having highest conidia size of 26.36 x 4.08 μm.
