Abstract
The risk factors for coronary heart disorder, including hypercholesterolemia, high blood pressure,
smoking, diabetes mellitus, and diet rich in fats all have been related with injuries in endothelial function.
Decreasedfunctions of endothelium may encourage the growth of atherosclerosis over its effects on vasoregulation,
adhesion of platelet and monocyte, growth of vascular smooth muscle cell, and also clotting.
Amplified oxidative stress might be alternativetool through which endothelial dysfunction leads to
atherosclerosis.Modifications of risk factors, particularly depressing high concentrations of low-density
lipoprotein cholesterol, improvefunctions of endothelial. Several studies showedconfirmed better
endothelial working byreducing levels of cholesterol in patients with evidentlyraised or marginalraises in
concentration of cholesterol. The part of various vascular adhesion particles in growth as well
asadvancement of atherosclerosis is also reported. This review highlighted the role of Macrophages/
monocytes, platelets, T cells, B cells, leukocytes, some vascular adhesion molecules which includes
selectins, vascular cell adhesion molecules (VCAM)-1, inter-cellular adhesion molecule1 (ICAM-1) and
various inflammatory biomarkersin atherosclerosis.
