Abstract
Video signals require high bandwidth to maintain a good Quality of Service (QoS). The need for transmission systems which utilize hardware and software hybrid structure, known as Software Defined Radio (SDR), arises because of limited channel capacity in wireless communication. The purpose of this paper is to implement a real time video transmission using an open source, low cost and flexible platform – GNU Radio along with Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP). GNU Radio allows us to develop a flexible video transmission system in which parameters such as video size, video rate and video qualitycan be changed to achieve QoS of video applications. The development of reconfigurable video systems with minimized hardware expenditure is under research and this will be applicable for future applications such as DTTB and ISDB-TB broadcasting.
