Abstract

Ecotourism can be embraced as a headway for the tourism industry of Kerala as it gives due priority to ecologically sustainable development. As an ethical business practice that rooted in the embedded relationship of human beings and nature, ecotourism aims at practising the sustainable tourism and thereby generating employment and income for the local people for their active participation and involvement in it. In this context, the present article highlights how the ecotourism initiatives in Kerala are systematically being steered by the Kerala Forest Department for regional development.
