Abstract
Digital India is a flagship programme launched by the Indian government with a vision to see India as a digitally empowered society with good governance for citizens by bringing coordination and synchronisation in public accountability, connecting digitally as well as delivering government services and programs to mobilise the capability of information technology across government departments. However, to realise the full potential of this programme, it is prerequisite to address several challenges in its way of efficacious implementation which include digital illiteracy, low internet speed, poor infrastructure, issues pertaining to taxation, lack of coordination among various departments, etc. In this context, this paper tries to analyse the Digital India program in terms of its vision, opportunities, various initiatives, and their overall impact. In addition, it also attempts to understand various security challenges for the program.
