Abstract

Disability has always been treated as one of the significant themes in literature of all times and every civilizations. The interesting thing is that among the various kinds of disabilities, the most conspicuous and persistent one in the context of literary environment is ‘visual disability’. The visually challenged were powerless to question the stereotypical images and misrepresentations produced by the mainstream authors. Lack of awareness about the original experience of the visually challenged led the writers into such misrepresentations.
