Abstract

The investigation of corrosion inhibition capability of L-Tryptophan with Zn2+ ion against carbon steel in Cauvery water was done using weight loss method. Along with this, the electrochemical studies such as FTIR, UV, Tafel polarization were done and the protective film formed was authenticated by SEM analysis. All these studies stand as proof for the inhibitive effect of L-Tryptophan and Zn2+ ion as excellent corrosion inhibitor. Complex mixture of L-Tryptophan and Zn2+ ion effectively inhibited the corrosion of carbon steel in Cauvery water with 70% of inhibition efficiency.
