Abstract

The winning spree of BJD since 2000 does matter to determine the several welfare schemes and good governance have led to reaching the BJD at this stage.  A core factor that contributes to BJD’s victory has focused on Patnaik’s personal popularity and as a populist leader generally. Particularly lots of socio- economic welfare pro-poor schemes for rural Odisha are prompted the state’s electorate to once again buck the anti-incumbency factor and re-elect the ruling party with an expanded majority though the state government and the BJD has been criticized for corruption, crime against women and the quality of public service delivery.
