Abstract

Sound tax policies of a nation are an indication of strong governance and sustainable development. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) a historic tax reform, has come into effect from July 1, 2017 which aims at complete transformation in the field of indirect taxation in the country involving both central and state levies. The biggest tax reform after independence, GST will pave the way for realization of the goal of ‘One Nation – One Tax – One Market’ and is expected to benefit the entire stakeholders. But this GST has several challenges to business, manufacturers and large enterprises, exporters, government, consumers and GSTN. This paper highlights the challenges of GST to different stakeholders to the society.
