Abstract
Discussions on climate change has always been limited to impacts, however, with the passage of time, vulnerability studies gradually gained momentum. Vulnerability studies have a long tradition but because of its wide base applicability, it has also become a fuzzy concept. The present paper tried to explore the conceptual framework of vulnerability, with a special reference to climate change. Previously, works on vulnerability were limited to disaster research. It is of recent times that new facets were discovered. The latest definition by IPCC includes exposure, sensitivity and adaptive capacity as elements of vulnerability. The paper also covers few vulnerability assessment methods.
