Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of Pomodoro technique on senior secondary students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in Aboh Mbaise Local Government area in Imo State, Nigeria between 12-25 years of age using the 2023 National Survey of Children's Health (NSCH). The NSCH is a nationally representative, cross-sectional survey of parents regarding their children's health that underwent a redesign before the 2023 data collection. The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that breaks work into 25-minute intervals, called “Pomodoros,” with a 5-minute break in between. After completing four Pomodoros, a longer break of 15-30 minutes is taken.  It include indicators of lifetime receipt of an ADHD diagnosis by a health care provider, whether the child currently had ADHD, and receipt of medication and behavioral treatment for ADHD.  Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder that affects millions of children and adults in Aboh Mbaise Local Government area in Nigeria. The aim is to understand and implement the effective ADHD management strategies that can significantly improve the quality of life for those impacted by the disorder.  ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by a consistent pattern of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that is pervasive and interferes with functioning or development. ADHD symptoms can vary greatly among individuals and may change with age. While traditionally diagnosed in childhood, ADHD can persist into adulthood, affecting various aspects of life including academic achievement, occupational performance, and interpersonal relationships.
