Abstract

In this paper Hindi translation and analysis of Punjabi folk songs of resistance has been done. while  compiling, transliterating, analyzing folk songs, this research is divided into two parts. The limitation of this research is that as the folklore of resistance is concerned, only those folk songs are included as material in which the tone of resistance is visible. Among the Punjabi folk songs, most folk songs are related to the prosperity, farm-barn, relationship etc. of Punjab. Folk songs related to love are also found in a considerable amount in stories-poems, among which Sohni-Mahiwal, Sassi-Punnu, Heer-Ranjha, Sahiban-Mirza etc. are prominent. There is some resistance even in these love poems. But not in the whole song, in this case, there was a research question as to whether these love poems should be made part of this research or not. Because these stories are poetic and the narrative is entirely based on love and dedication. A few characters show resistance in very few words, but immediately after resistance, their dedication is also visible. This is the reason that these anecdotes-poem are not included in this research by the researcher.
