Abstract
This research papers is an attempt to evaluate the political participation of women in Uttar Pradesh. It also analyses various Constitutional & legal provisions in Indian Constitution which provide equality like article 14 of Fundamental rights that also facilitates active political participation by women as an integral part of the whole issue for the development of our Country. The UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has also expressed equality between men and women. This gives legitimacy to the women to play an important role. Participation of women in whole political process for the development of our country is very important from the point of view of both equity as well as development. This paper is also an attempt to show that political participation leads to empowerment of women. It would further discuss why Women representation in politics of Uttar Pradesh is crucial for the development of India as a whole.
