Abstract
Distance and e-learning education is a form of education in which there is normally separation between teachers and learners. The modes of interactions are enabled through uploading documents on internet learning platforms or panel discussion board or e-mail, telephones or videoconferencing. In spite of distance and online education having gained popularity and has been spreading to large parts of the world, in Tanzania, other parts of the country have not benefited from this modern educational technology. However, it is not yet known whether these professionals and other stakeholders accept this new mode of education as could persuade the required roles that the conventional education does. This study was aimed at evaluating acceptance of distance and online learning among professionals and other educational stakeholders of Tanzania. Non- interventional descriptive design with quantitative in nature was employed. Non-probability sampling was used. Two hundred fifty (N = 220) candidates were conveniently provided with questionnaire. Professionals, official members, community representatives and community members from a district level were involved for their opinions on distance and online education. The legally and ethically required procedures were efficiently considered and attempted as necessary.
