Abstract

The School Education and teacher education are two inseparable elements of education system. The coordination in these two systems is very essential for development and progress of education. But some how these two are not in coherence and a big gap has taken place in between. As a result, this gap has also occurred in teacher training institutions and schools. The quality of school Education depends on the quality of teachers. Teacher's quality can be improved only through planned teacher training programmes. Universalization and expansion of elementary education is the immediate goal. In six decades ago 1950 India had taken a pledge through the constitution that within a period of 10 years (from 1950), free and compulsory elementary education would be provided to all children up to 14 years of age. Six decades have passed and neither it is free nor compulsory.
