Abstract
There are three basic necessities which a human being needs to survive i.e. food, clothing and shelter. Food is the fundamental requirement of a human being upon which his life is completely dependent. Hunger is an obstacle in maintaining the dignity of human life which creates hindrances in the economic and social development of a country. Right to food is a directive principle on which the fundamental right of life relies. It is an elementary human right which protects the right of individuals to fulfill their dietary needs in an adequate manner. Food security means the accessibility and availability of food to each individual in all situations. India has a huge number of hungry people in the world. The food security act was passed in the year 2013 in India. The act consists of provision of food grain to two third of the population of India at subsidized rates. The present study aims at analyzing various schemes of right to food and nutrition in India.
